COMPLICATED (FIRST PAINTING)
Complicated
This is one of the very first paintings I created back in 2002 when I was just five years old. It was shortly after I came home from the hospital following my diagnosis of Craniopharyngioma (a rare brain tumor) and my brain surgery.
I underwent brain surgery in August 2002, and I believe I painted this around October of that year.
When my mom asked me what the painting was about, I told her it was called Complicated. Even at such a young age, I was using art to express my emotions and feelings. None of us could have imagined the artist and writer I would grow to become.
Everything I’ve been through has shaped me—not just as an artist, but as a person. I truly believe that every experience offers an opportunity to grow and evolve. Even now, I am constantly learning and developing, both in my craft and in my life.
This painting was featured in the article written about me in Dallas Style & Design Magazine in their Spring 2018 issue.
